The Big Lerf Fundraiser 2025

The Big Lerf Fundraiser returns for its fifth edition, once again set to take place in Weymouth on Saturday, 19th July 2025. Following last year’s sellout event, ticket numbers will again be limited to 100, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Adult tickets are priced at £30, while anglers aged 17 and under can participate for free by signing up via email at thebiglerf@gmail.com with their details. Although under-18s receive free entry, donations are welcomed to help cover the cost of event t-shirts.

This year, the fundraiser will support Second Chance Children’s Charity, which provides vital assistance to children and young adults, many of whom are not in full-time education. The charity offers one-on-one and small-group experiences at its rural centre, where young people can engage in various activities, including fishing at its three stocked lakes.

Second Chance works with children from three primary backgrounds, often in equal proportions: those who have experienced physical, mental, or sexual abuse; those from poverty-stricken inner-city areas; and those with learning difficulties. Some face all three challenges simultaneously. As these young people carry their struggles internally, they often do not receive the sympathy or support they deserve, making them one of the most disadvantaged groups in Britain today.

The event aims to raise funds for this important cause, with £20 from each ticket sale donated to Second Chance. The remaining funds will cover event costs, including a t-shirt for each participant, which will be provided on the day.
