The LAS River Cup 2025 – Results

Saturday, the 18th of October, saw anglers gather for the annual (Lure Angler’s Society) LAS River Cup 2025. Conditions looked ideal early on, with calm weather and clear skies setting the scene for what many hoped would be a productive day. However, despite the promising outlook, the perch proved difficult to locate, showing little interest in taking lures or baits.

With the perch staying cautious, it was the pike that stole the show. Plenty of pike were caught throughout the day by only a few anglers. One angler in particular, Alen Zečević, stood out from the start, maintaining an impressive pace that few could match. Despite the challenges posed by a persistent high-pressure front, Zečević’s consistency and skill earned him a well-deserved victory.

When the final results were tallied, the leaderboard read as follows:

1st – Alen Zečević (218 pts)
2nd – Šarūnas Šiaučiulis (110 pts)
3rd – Drew Sullivan (104 pts)

• Biggest Perch (34cm) – Šarūnas Šiaučiulis
• Biggest Pike (82cm) – Drew Sullivan

The event once again showcased the camaraderie and competitive spirit that make the River Cup such a highlight of the season. While the fishing proved challenging, the atmosphere remained upbeat, with plenty of friendly banter and shared enthusiasm along the banks.

Organisers extended their gratitude to Ian Todman and Wychwood Agitator for supplying some fantastic prizes, and to Eric Edwards for his efforts in scoring and keeping the day running smoothly. Thanks also went to all the anglers who took part and to the WDNAC for allowing the use of their waters.

With the River Cup 2025 wrapped up, attention now turns to the Christmas Match in December, which promises excellent sport on a venue known for its pike, perch, and zander.
