Surprise Perch for Young Angler – Daniel Tanner

Young Angler Daniel Tanner was left stunned this week after hooking into a specimen perch completely by surprise.

Tanner had been targeting roach and rudd with pinkies, his usual approach, when his float suddenly dipped and he found himself battling a much stronger fish. To his amazement, a cracking perch surfaced – a species he rarely targets.

“I know the smaller perch often take maggots,” Daniel explained, “but I never expected to land a monster like this. It really was a one-in-a-lifetime catch for many anglers.”

The fish, caught tight to the margins, measured an impressive 16 inches (around 46cm). Although Tanner was unable to capture its exact weight in the excitement, the perch stands out as a true specimen and a catch to remember.
