The Lure Anglers Society – Predator Anglers Cup 2023
Over the past weekend, several lure-angling teams embarked on a challenging competition on the imposing Grafham Water.
The competition was held to determine the winner of this year’s LAS Predator Angler Cup. The event was proudly sponsored by Predator Tackle, Westin, The Pike Shop and The Lure Box.

On the 2nd of December, teams battled it out in the midst of tough weather conditions. Despite the bitterly cold day, the competition was nothing short of thrilling, with each team giving it their all to come out on top.

Thom Hunt said “Well what an interesting day it was yesterday. The LAS Predator Cup and I don’t think it got above freezing all day. Ice constantly in the rod rings making casting tricky, and the fish weren’t really in the mood, with just 4 fish caught all day from 50 anglers I think.”
The Competition
It was a challenging day, but Sam Ross and Aaron Williams didn’t give up. They took the lead with an impressive Pike of 102cm. Their determination and perseverance paid off in the end, reminding us that even when the competition is tough, success is always within reach.

The tension was palpable as the clock ticked down. With just 30 seconds to spare, Kev Cox landed an impressive Zander, securing 79 points and second place in the competition. It was a thrilling moment that saw Thom lift into an invisible fish during the excitement of watching it on-screen. The Zander was in fact at Kev’s lure who confidently dealt with it.

Ian Crook and Eric Edwards bagged a respectable third place with 74 points managing to land an impressive 74cm Zander with 4 minutes to go. Ian and Eric were set on a second-place finish, then Kev’s fish (mentioned above) catapulted Team 2 into second place dropping Ian and Eric to third.
