Team England Prepares for Street Fishing World Championships in Italy
In October, Team England will once again set their sights on Italy, as they prepare for the 3rd edition of the Street Fishing World Championships. This prestigious event will be held from October 23rd to 27th at the picturesque Peschiera del Garda water system. With three impressive performances in previous championships, the team is eager to improve their standing and make a mark on the global stage.
Under the leadership of Steve Collett, the International Lure Manager, the team is comprised of a talented group of anglers. This year’s squad features:
- Dale Hunter, Assistant Manager
- Paul Danby, Team Captain
- Adam Seeley
- Nick Wilson
- Lee Saville
- Ben Sharp
- Tom Andrews
- Roly Mceneaney
Steve Collett expressed his enthusiasm about the team’s composition: “This is a great team, a strong one, with a mix of experience and a few debutants. I am looking to expand this branch of angling, and as it grows around the world, we need to adapt and strengthen. Hence, we have a larger than normal squad this year.”
Collett highlighted the team’s accomplishments, noting that all members have earned their international caps through merit and are competing in the Elite Pro League. “They can all stand tall,” he said. “Under my management and the captaincy of Paul Danby, everyone knows what is required. They have to be at the top of their game to compete at this level.”
One of the unique challenges for the team will be fishing for species not found in the UK. However, Collett is confident in the team’s ability to adapt and perform strongly, thanks to their previous experience. “We hope to inspire the next generation to engage with this elite level of angling,” he added.
The England team operates as a self-funded entity, which brings both financial and logistical challenges. To alleviate some of these pressures, Collett encourages potential sponsors to come forward. “If you know anyone who might be able to support us, we will do our best to promote their sponsorship through social media and throughout the year as we continue our international journey.”
As Team England gears up for the Street Fishing World Championships, they remain focused on delivering a stellar performance and fostering interest in competitive angling. Their dedication and hard work serve as a testament to their passion for the sport and their commitment to inspiring future anglers.
