Our Top 3 Rucksacks for Urban Lure Fishing in 2024

Are you on the lookout for the best rucksack for urban lure fishing? If you’ve been through many options, but still haven’t found the right one, don’t worry. We’re here to help you out!

We’ve researched and tested many options and listed our top three rucksacks we think are perfect for lure fishing. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of each option, so you can make a well-informed decision on what to buy. Whether you’re into perch fishing, pike fishing or any other type of lure fishing these rucksacks each offer something unique and are no doubt some of the best options on the market today.

Spro Freestyle Backpack 25 V2

The Backpack 25 V2 is an updated version of the popular Backpack 25. It’s a backpack that can also be used as a shoulder bag and it comes with four tackle boxes that can be easily accessed from either side of the bag. The new version has improved materials and features, and each side of the bag now has a better holder for your fishing rod. The bag is designed to work well with the Xtender Rod series but can house almost all additional lure rods when travelling.

The Pros

  • Arguably one of the better-looking rucksacks currently on the market.
  • Designed for urban angling environments
  • Quick and easy access to tackle boxes
  • Compartmentalised for better storage
  • It can be used as a normal rucksack or a shoulder bag
  • Very comfortable and easily adjustable to suit all
  • The Spro Chest Pouch can be attached to the shoulder straps to create additional easy-access storage.

The Cons

  • Limited anchor points compared to other rucksacks that may have webbing for unlimited anchoring of tackle.
  • Repels water but isn’t waterproof
  • It doesn’t have a fixed chest strap

Our Thoughts

We’ve been using this rucksack for a few months now and have found it to be probably the best we’ve used so far. Whilst it’s limited for attaching items to the outer bag Spro have thought about what you really need on the day and has catered for it. It looks really nice and with the tackle boxes thrown in also it’s a brilliant rucksack that we think is the most versatile on the market today

Fox Rage Streetfighter Rucksack

This small and handy backpack is great for carrying all your necessary gear while you’re on the go. It’s made from strong and durable materials, which means it will last you a long time. The main compartment is roomy and has a special lining that keeps your gear dry even if it’s raining outside. There’s also a front pocket that you can easily access for your fishing equipment, like bait and hooks. And if you want your hands free while you’re moving around, there are loops on the sides where you can attach your fishing rod or net. In summary, if you’re looking for a good-looking and practical backpack for your fishing needs, the Fox Rage Street Fighter Fishing Rucksack is the right choice.

The Pros

  • Easy Access compartments
  • Multiple anchor points for all your accessories
  • Rod holder attachments
  • You can add the modular pouches to extend the capacity
  • Compact (width)design perfect for street fishing
  • Waterproof base
  • Comes with 4 small stackable boxes

The Cons

  • It’s quite expensive
  • Quite a tall design – not for everyone
  • Quick access to the bottom compartment is only from one side

Our Thoughts

It is evident that Fox has put a lot of thought into designing this rucksack, incorporating many clever ideas to make the life of lure anglers easier while on the move. However, while it is cleverly designed, its appearance may not appeal to everyone. For such an expensive rucksack, it looks a bit of a breeze block and lacks aesthetic appeal. Although it claims to have a compact design, it seems to be so only in terms of its width. I would not prefer to have such a tall rucksack, but if you do not mind its height, it is undoubtedly one of the best rucksacks available in the market right now, provided you can afford it.

Rapala Urban Rucksack 25L

The Urban BackPack is a versatile backpack that you can use for your everyday needs. It has a spacious main compartment with many pockets inside that you can easily access. It also has a separate pocket at the back where you can keep your laptop or a hydration pack. There’s a hard case in front that protects your sunglasses and other valuables.

The backpack has many attachment points outside where you can place your tools. It can also hold two fishing rods, one on each side. You can use the detachable hip belt together with the backpack or separately. The backpack has a comfortable 3D mesh back support that’s well-ventilated, and adjustable chest and waist straps that keep you secure and comfortable while carrying it.

The Pros

  • Features chest and waist straps for support and additional comfort
  • Detachable hip belt
  • Hard case to safely store sunglasses
  • Versatile main compartment to use how you want to use
  • Various attachment points for things such as a net or unhooking mat

The Cons

  • No quick access to storage boxes or compartments
  • Doesn’t hold its shape quite as well as other rucksack options available
  • Repels water but isn’t waterproof
  • Doesn’t come with tackle boxes

Our Thoughts

This backpack is better than the other two options in some important ways. The Rapala Urban Rucksack is designed to be comfortable and supportive with straps that go around your chest and waist. If you’ve ever carried a heavy backpack for more than half a day while fishing, you know that it can cause a lot of pain in your back. But with this backpack, the chest strap helps to distribute the weight more evenly and reduce the strain on your shoulders. Plus, it looks really nice and has lots of useful features.
