Anticipation builds…

Last year’s tournament set a high standard, but 2024’s edition took it up a notch. With sponsor contributions from top brands like FFS Lures, Westin, Rapala, Okuma, and more, the prizes made the stakes higher and the competition fierce. The prizes awarded were exceptional, with:

  • 1st Place receiving a premium rod, reel, luggage, lures, and a £150 Willow Grange voucher.
  • 2nd Place receiving a rod, reel, clothing, lures, and a £100 Willow Grange voucher.
  • 3rd Place receiving a rod, reel, lures, and a £50 Willow Grange voucher.

The fishing conditions were remarkable, with a noticeable improvement in the number of predators caught compared to last year, including many pike and a better showing of zander. The increased number of participants, many travelling from farther afield, added to the day’s atmosphere.

These smaller, grassroots competitions truly embody the heart of the UK fishing scene. While some may approach the day with a competitive edge, the true spirit lies in the fun, camaraderie, and shared passion among like-minded lure anglers. Events like this are a fantastic reminder of what makes our fishing community special, and it’s inspiring to see them flourish. Here’s hoping for many more to come from Willow Grange Tackle & Baits – Well done!
